playapps.net is closing down
playapps.net is closing down on 30th June.
We started working on playapps.net to provide a way for Play developers to host their Web application on the cloud. At this time there was only a few options to host a Java based Web application on the cloud, and none was supporting Play.
Since this time, many great hosting companies have added support for Java Web apps and most of them support Play applications, a few of them like Heroku even support the Play server natively. We won't be able to host your apps with the same level of support as these companies, so we recommend you move your apps to one of them.
Especially Heroku, is a fantastic service, very similar to playapps.net for Play framework users, and any app you have on playapps.net should fit comfortably on their system. Also they offer 750 free dyno-hours, meaning that some applications will be able to run for free on Heroku.
Since now, it will not been possible to order new servers. Your applications hosted on playapps.net will be running until the 30th June. If you still have any credit on your prepaid account at this date, we will refund you on your paypal account.
Sorry for the hassle, we know moving host is frustrating. But thank you for choosing us. It has been a pleasure hosting your apps for these 2 years.
